"President of a rhyme, resident of a bass town" proclaims
rapper Supreme on the opening track of one of the most interesting
albums to come out of Miami. 12/52/365 was the debut
album of Dade county's Magnetic Force and it's some what of a
departure from what we're used to hearing from "the bass
town" in 89. While it does have some of that classic bass
touch there are washes of De La and Ultra in here as well. Highlights
are the title track, Magnetic Force Ain't Frontin, and
the amazing Unorthodoxism.
We Want More is the cut I dropped for the mix. It's
one of my favorites from the LP and it's a track that should give
you a pretty good insight into the rest of the album. I tend to
see the singles from this album more than the LP itself but it's
a nice find when it rears it's head. Oh and uh, I think Dr. Huxtable
called guys... He wants his cardigans back.
